the sound of urban gypsies
Within the rapidly expanding field of Pop-Music one can find a steadily growing influence from the socalled "World-Music" in all it's varieties. Be it the sexy Latino-Touch of Shakira, the rebellious Balkan-Punk of Gogol Bordello or the smoky charme of the Gotan Project.

!DelaDap
!DelaDap are looking at themselves as a part of this openminded developement and so with quite some self-confidence they define their very own mix of styles from Roma-Gypsy-Roots, chic Jazz and urban Electronic as "Nu-Gypsy". !DelaDap reinterpret the proud elegance which the Roma inherited from their Indian ancestors anew fort he 21st century. However, it's always the aim of the band not to miss-use the tradition only as a nice decoration for functional pop-songs, but rather to add another fecet to the richt musical world of the Gypsies and vice-versa. And this the more, because it's actually nothing new: since centuries the Roma did influence the evolution of what we think are typical European music-styles, like Flamenco, Watz, French Musette or Hungarian Czardasz. It all wouldn't sound as it does without the musical input rooting in Inda and being brought to us by the Roma.
After two successful full length records and five years of touring Europe, by now !DelaDap are considered among the worldwide respected fixtures in both, World Music- as well as in the club-scene. Some of the notable highlights in those eventful years were two nominations for the "price of German record critics", the "Donauinselfest" performance in front of 10.000 thrilled fans and several live-radio-concerts on German WDR, Austrian ORF and Radio Troika in Poland. Furthermore !DelaDap seized the chance to present their spirited show to worldwide expert public at the Sevilla World-Music fair WOMEX 2007. In the neighbouring country Hungary they are already reckoned as an international top act, annually invited to the major festivals and steady broadcasted on popular tv and radio stations including live-broadcastings of complete concerts f.e. on Germans WDR, Austrias ORF or on Radio Troika in Poland.

The Royal Drive Affair
Hammond Beat & Porno Funk
|
An introduction to one of the nicest things in life was not the only common subject in movies like "Barbarella" "Deep Throat" or the German "Schulmädchenreport". Without the music these movies would not be any fun at all. The "Royal Drive Affair" takes these erotic and brilliant Funky Tunes from the 60ies and 70ies to the dance floors from Vienna to Munich.
These six musicians from Upper Austria celebrate the finest Mod Jazz with outstanding brilliance. Hammond organ and trumpet create the sound in the style of the celluloid classics of the 60ies and 70ies from hip action thrillers to sexedelic mellowbeat.
Founded in June 2003, "The royal drive Affair" immediately played many renowned clubs like the Atomic Cafe or the Red Bar in the national theatre of Vienna, for the ARS-Electronica Festival and as support for Frank Popp Ensemble. Beginning in 2005 the band also appears regularily as a Backing Band of the cult entertainer Georgie Gold in order to supply the right beat to his appearances. Two live - EPs and a studio record were published. Spring 2010 will bring the release of the single "Satisfying Scene". In 2009 the "Royal Drive Affair" was joined by Andreas Wiesinger (organ) and Gerold "Moarly" Mayer (bass). The five musicians, who in the past have played with people like Bernard Purdie, Russkaja, Texta, Shy, etc., and who presented their repertory as "Instrumentals", have now been joined by the singer Thekla Hörtler.
The Band:
Rainer Gutternigg: Trumpet
Josef Hinterhölzl: Drums
Thekla Hörtler: Voc
Armin Lehner: Guitar
Gerold "Moarly" Mayer: Bass
Andreas Wiesinger: Organ
